Adult Ballet - Frequently Asked Questions

What is Adult RAD Grade 6 Ballet?

Our Adult RAD Grade 6 (Higher Grades) class is recommended for adult dancers who have been attending class consistently and are ready to explore more structured ballet training—at a comfortable, encouraging pace. CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO ON ADULT RAD GRADE 6 BALLET.

Can I just drop in, or do I need to sign up for a full session?

Both! Drop-ins are always welcome – no commitment required. You can come to any class on a drop-in basis whenever it works for your schedule. We also offer discounted class bundles that can be purchased per session for those who plan to attend regularly. If you’d like to register for a full session, please fill out our registration form.

How do I sign up for a drop-in class?

Just fill out our drop-in form and show up! Payment for drop-in classes can be made at the front office when you arrive. Please plan to come 10–15 minutes early so we can get you checked in before class begins.

Which class level is right for me?

We offer three levels to meet you where you are:

  • Beginner is designed for total beginners with no prior dance experience.
  • Beginner Plus is a great fit if you have some dance experience – it doesn’t have to be ballet.
  • Advanced Beginner/Intermediate is for dancers with ballet experience or those who have been in Beginner Plus for a while and are ready to progress.

Not sure where you belong? If your schedule only works for a specific class time and it might not be the level you’d expect, we still encourage you to come try a drop-in. Our instructors do a fantastic job of making everyone feel comfortable and welcome at any level.

What if I want to attend classes more regularly after my drop-in?

Once you’ve done a drop-in and decide you’d like to keep coming, we’ll create a portal account for you where you can manage your classes, payment methods, and more.

Do you offer free trial classes?

We do not offer free trial classes, but you are always welcome to try a class on a drop-in basis to see if it’s a good fit for you.

What is your refund and cancellation policy?

We do not offer refunds or class changes.

Uniform and Dress Code

All Coastal Dance Centre dance classes have a specified uniform attire. Parents/guardians must purchase the required leotards with the Coastal Dance Centre logo at the Front Office. It is important for students to abide by a dress code policy for the following reasons:

● A neat and tidy appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for students, teachers, and the art of dance.
● Teachers must be able to see the dancer’s body outline clearly in order to make proper corrections on posture, alignment, etc.
● A uniform ensures that the dancer’s clothing is not a distraction during class which helps to keep the dancer more engaged.
● No costumes are allowed in class unless a dress-up day is announced by the teachers.
● Only small stud earrings are allowed; no loose nor dangling earrings; no necklaces nor bracelets.
● Hair must be properly secured and tied up off of the face and neck for all styles of dance.
GIRLS: Hair must be pulled back out of eyes into a neat and secure bun and secured tightly
with a hair net and bobby pins. Ponytails are acceptable in jazz and tap classes.
BOYS: Hair groomed and kept neatly out of the eyes.
● Older students are required to wear the proper undergarments (dance trunks, dance bras or
camisole-style leotards, dance belts) with the appropriate clothing designated for the class.
● No warm-up shirts, skirts, leg warmers, sweatpants, or shorts may be worn during class unless
prior approval is obtained from the teacher.
● When coming to and going from the studio, all students must wear outer clothing, i.e., pants, skirt,
sweater, over their dance attire.
● No dance shoes are to be worn outside of the studio under any condition.
● All clothing and shoes must be marked with the student’s full name.
● Dancewear is to be kept laundered and in good repair.
● If a Conservatory Student is enrolled in a recreational class program, they must purchase the
required recreational uniform and vice versa.
