Coastal Dance Centre is excited to announce its 2022 Summer Dance Workshops and Intensives for dancers ages 7 – 19!
The main goal of our workshop and intensive program is to work on improving and strengthening the dancer’s technique and hone their creative and artistic potential during the summer months.
Under the guidance of Coastal Dance Centre’s resident faculty and guest master teachers, participating dancers will gain invaluable experience which will further help them master the art of ballet.

Summer WORKSHOPS
The BEGINNING BALLET WORKSHOP is designed for students ages 7-12 years who have had at least one (1) year of ballet training (not including preschool dance classes), who shows an aptitude for, and a love of ballet, wishing to experience focused ballet training this summer. Students will learn foundational ballet technique as well as ballet vocabulary, and character dance. We encourage dancers to also take supplemental classes in Jazz, Musical Theater, Tap, and Acro.
Currently enrolled Coastal Dance Centre RAD Primary Ballet and RAD Ballet Level 1 students are welcome to enroll in the Beginning Ballet Workshop.
The Beginning Ballet Workshop is available in 3 week-long sessions. Students may enroll for 1 week, 2 weeks, or the entire 3 weeks.

The ASPIRING DANCERS’ BALLET WORKSHOP is intended for students, ages 9 - 15 years, who has had a minimum of two to three (2-3) years of formal ballet technique training (not including preschool dance classes), who shows an aptitude for and a love of ballet, wishing to immerse themselves in a focused ballet training this summer.
This workshop will work on ballet technique, character dance, and conditioning, and will be taught by Coastal Dance Centre's resident faculty. We also encourage dancers to take supplemental classes in Lyrical, Jazz, Musical Theater, Tap, and Acro to broaden their experience.
Currently enrolled Coastal Dance Centre RAD Ballet Level 2 and RAD Ballet Level 3 students are welcome to enroll in the Aspiring Dancers Workshop.

Summer INTENSIVES
The JUNIOR BALLET INTENSIVE is designed for students ages 10 - 16 years, who have had a minimum of three to four (3-4) years of serious ballet technique training (not including preschool dance classes) and wishing to immerse themselves in rigorous dance training this summer.
Daily classes will include ballet technique, pre-pointe/pointe* (only if applicable), classical variations, repertoire and conditioning. Classes will be taught by Coastal Dance Centre Faculty and guest master teachers. We also encourage dancers to take supplemental classes in Contemporary, Jazz, Musical Theater, Tap, and Acro to broaden their experience.
* Please note that even though a new student may be taking pointe at her regular dance school, it is possible that she will not be scheduled for Pointe classes at the CDC Summer Intensive. Pointe work can be harmful if the student has not learned to use the proper leg and foot muscles or does not have proper body placement. The most efficient way for most students to improve their pointe work is to improve their ballet technique first.
The JUNIOR BALLET INTENSIVE will culminate in a Summer Showcase Performance. Junior Intensive participants who register and attend the entire three-week Junior Ballet Intensives will have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Showcase featuring repertoire and variations learned in the intensive. The Summer Showcase is scheduled on Friday, August 5, at 6 pm.
Currently enrolled RAD Level 4 and RAD Level 5 Ballet are qualified to participate in the Junior Ballet Intensive.
The JUNIOR BALLET INTENSIVE is available in 3 week-long sessions. Students may enroll for 1 week, 2 weeks, or the entire 3 weeks.
* Incoming 2022-2023 Junior Conservatory Ensemble students are required to take all three weeks of the Summer Junior Ballet Intensive.
Note: Prior to the JUNIOR BALLET INTENSIVE, we will offer a WARM-UP TO THE INTENSIVES which will include Open Ballet classes and a Rockettes Style Dance Workshop. This is open to NEW students as well as students from current CDC RAD Level 4 and higher levels. This is scheduled to be held on Tuesday-Thursday, July 12-14 from 2:00-5:00 pm. 3 Days only. The cost is $150. This is optional for JUNIOR BALLET INTENSIVE attendees.

Coastal Dance Centre’s INTERMEDIATE and ADVANCED INTENSIVE is for students ages 12 years and older, who has had a minimum of four to five (4-5) years of serious ballet technique training, (not counting preschool dance), wanting to immerse themselves in rigorous dance training and who demonstrates a high level of achievement, talent, and potential.
Daily classes include Ballet Technique, Pointe*, Variations, Repertoire, Conditioning, and will be taught by Coastal Dance Centre faculty and guest master teachers. Students from age 7 years and up are invited to apply and attend the Coastal Dance Centre Summer 2022 workshops and Intensives. Students will be placed/assigned according to age, ability and skill level.
Acceptance into Coastal Dance Centre’s Summer Intensive Program begins with the Application and Audition Process.

All applicants will be notified of their acceptance results via email approximately one week, but no later than two weeks following acceptance of your application.
Level placement will depend on age and technical ability.
Coastal Dance Centre highly encourages that summer students be enrolled for the entire week / two - or three-week program.
All students in the 4-week program will be able to participate in the Summer Showcase. The performance is on Saturday, August 5.
If you have been accepted into the program, your spot will be guaranteed for exactly two weeks after email notification. Registration forms and the required deposit must be submitted to guarantee your spot. Registrations are accepted on a first come, first served basis.
The non-refundable deposit is due within two weeks after the acceptance notice goes out.
Yes, your non-refundable deposit will count towards the total balance. Credit Card payments over the phone can also be accepted for a deposit. All deposits are non-refundable, no exceptions.

Tuition is non-refundable and non-transferable. Participants who have to withdraw due to injury or illness before the Summer Intensive Program starts will receive a tuition refund minus a 15% administrative fee subject to the receipt of medical certificate or a doctor’s note.
Coastal Dance Centre reserves the right to exclude or refuse service to any person at any time prior to or during the Summer Intensive Program, if in the opinion of Coastal Dance Centre’s staff, that person is incompatible with the general enjoyment and well-being of the event. In this instance, no refund will be given.
At this time, we do not have any housing available currently. Out-of-town students will have to find a place to stay during the intensive. Please note that we are not responsible for supervising these students outside of the dance studios.
