What will your child learn in our pre-school dance classes?
- ● They will learn to follow instructions.
- ● They will gain a sense of discipline through learning with a group.
- ● They will learn co-ordination, balance, and how to control their bodies.
- ● They will become comfortable performing before groups.
Pre-School Ballet Program
- ● Dancing in rhythm and in time with a group.
- ● An introduction to character facial expression.
- ● Stretching, pointing, balancing, galloping, and skipping.
For young children, learning new things is easier. They usually adapt and learn more quickly than when they are older. Beginning ballet at an early age means not only are they learning a valued art form, but they are also getting trained for life.
Coastal Dance Centre’s Pre-School Classes:
Coastal Dance Centre pre-school classes* incorporate dance, music, and mime through story-telling and locomotor movement, gradually introducing discipline with an emphasis on fun. As children progress to the Pre-Primary Ballet level, classes become more structured and technical. Coordination, listening, and socialization skills become more apparent as children mature.
There are no exams at the pre-school level. Examinations are offered at the Primary Ballet level and higher.

*NOTE: Children in these classes must bring a back-up dance outfit with them to the studio for class in the case of an accident. We ask that parents take their children to the restroom before dropping them off for class to avoid accidents.
**NOTE: Children in these classes should be potty-trained. A potty-trained child is a child who can do the following:
- ● Be able to TELL the adult that they have to go potty BEFORE they have to go. They must be able to say the words “I have to go potty” BEFORE they have to go.
- ● Be able to pull down their underwear and pants and get them back up without assistance.
- ● Be able to wipe themselves after using the toilet.
- ● Be able to get off the potty by themselves.
- ● Be able to wash and dry hands.
- ● Be able to go directly back to the room without directions.
- ● Be able to postpone going if they must wait for someone who is in the bathroom, etc.
- ● Parents: Please have a back-up dance outfit in the case of an accident during class. We ask that you take children to the restroom before dropping them off for class to help avoid accidents.
