Coastal Dance Centre first opened in 2005 in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, and in 2013 opened with another studio facility at The Market Common in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

We offer classes for students of all ages, starting with children from 18 months to adults, with varying degrees of interest and talent, from beginner through advanced level in a disciplined yet nurturing environment.

We offer two types of dance programs: the Recreational Program and the Pre-Professional Program. We offer various styles of dance including Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theater, Hip Hop and Acrobatic Dance.

We are an affiliate school of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD), London and we offer RAD ballet syllabus classes and annual RAD examinations. Just recently, we have been approved as a certified Acrobatic Arts dance school.

Our students are afforded several opportunities to perform throughout the year. Our performing company, Coastal Youth Ballet Theatre, allows our more serious and dedicated students the opportunity to perform in our holiday production (our signature program being The Nutcracker) and in our springtime productions (Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Coppelia). We also have the outreach performance opportunities for students wherein they perform at various area schools and community events.

The highlight of the year is our students’ participation in the annual SPRING FESTIVAL OF DANCE, our year-end showcase performance for all of our students’ families and friends to witness and enjoy.

We believe that what sets us apart from other dance schools is our dedication, our commitment and our passion to train outstanding dancers.

Our students have gained scholarship opportunities and affiliations with some of the nation’s outstanding college programs and pre-professional training schools and professional companies: Harid Conservatory, Walnut Hill School for the Arts, School of Washington Ballet, Wake Forest University, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School of the American Ballet Theatre, South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities, National Ballet School of Canada, San Francisco Ballet School, North Carolina School for the Arts;  Boston Ballet School; The Juilliard School, New York University, Ellison Ballet and BalletMet.

We have successfully competed in major ballet and contemporary competitions such as the Youth America Grand Prix, World Ballet Competition, the American Ballet Competition and the RAD Dance Challenge.

Beginning 2017-2018, we will offer the opportunity for our recreational dancers to participate in competitions in the Myrtle Beach area through the Coastal Dance Centre Competition Troupe.

Studying at Coastal Dance Centre is more than just an activity. It is a dance experience unlike any other you will find in the Grand Strand area.

Registration is now open for our 2017-2018 Dance Year.  For further information, please contact our Front Office Staff at (843) 839-5678 or (843) 651-2006 or email us at
